For the first-time ever, the full version of India's National Song, Vande Mataram, was played alongside the National Anthem at the Red Fort during the 80th Independence Day celebrations, marking 150 years since its creation.

New Delhi: India marked a major historic first during the 80th Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort on Saturday, as the National Song, ‘Vande Mataram’, was played in full alongside the customary National Anthem, ‘Jana Gana Mana’. The milestone ceremony was led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and coincides with the 150th anniversary of the National Song.
