DRDO tests Gaganyaan drogue parachutes at higher than maximum flight loads

DRDO has used its rocket sled facility in Chandigarh to test the Gaganyaan drogue parachutes at higher than expected loads. The drogue parachutes are the first of a complex sequence of 10 parachutes that the Gaganyaan crew module will use to shed velocity at the end of a mission.

New Delhi: DRDO has successfully conducted a qualification level load test for the drogue parachutes to be used by the Gaganyaan programme at the Rail Track Rocket Sled (RTRS) facility at the Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory (TBRL) in Chandigarh.
