BCI halts enrolment of all NALSAR 2026 graduates after students oppose CJI’s convocation invitation
The Bar Council of India has directed all State Bar Councils not to enrol any NALSAR student who graduates in 2026 as an advocate until further orders. The action followed opposition from more than 450 students to the reported invitation extended to Chief Justice of India Surya Kant for the university’s convocation.
New Delhi: The Bar Council of India (BCI) has temporarily stopped the enrolment of all students graduating from NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, in 2026 as advocates. The BCI issued the order on Thursday amid a controversy over students’ opposition to Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant attending the university’s convocation as the chief guest.
“No student of NALSAR University of Law, who has obtained the Law Degree in the year 2026, shall be enrolled by any State Bar Council as an Advocate till further orders,” the BCI said. The direction could prevent........
