Were Babar, Rizwan the problem? Outdated Pakistan outplayed by India in yet another battle of a cricketing mismatch

New Delhi: There was no Babar Azam or Mohammad Rizwan, but it was the same old Pakistan as India secured a thrumping 7-wicket win against their arch-rivals at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai to bag their second win in a row in the Asia Cup 2025. For all the talk about their newfound approach in T20Is, Pakistan were no match against ruthless India in what turned out to be yet another damp squib between the traditional rivals.

After a tense build-up to the much-awaited contest, India and Pakistan renewed their rivalry in front of a not-so-enthusiastic crowd in Dubai, where the support was nearly equal for both teams, given the Pakistani diaspora in the city. Amid calls for a boycott back home, Indian fans did turn up in great numbers, but not enough to fill the entire stadium.

Despite heading into the game as overwhelming favourites, the reigning T20 world champions, India, would have expected stiff competition, considering Pakistan were the more prepared team, having won the tri-series against Afghanistan and UAE in the run-up to the tournament. India, on the other hand, entered the Asia Cup without much game time in the shortest format.

But as it turned out, Pakistan once again failed to put up a fight. In what looked like another battle of cricketing mismatch, India made a mockery of the Pakistan team to romp to an easy victory. There........
