While the indomitable Marathas rule India’s popular imagination at this moment after the release of Chhaava, a place that has been the bulwark against invasions in the east is slowly coming into its own.

Assam is being revived and reclaimed. It may not be as dramatic and lightning-quick as Lachit Borphukan’s slaying of the Mughals on the Brahmaputra after a brief Islamic rule, but the changes happening now could be far-reaching.

The grand, ongoing Advantage Assam 2.0: Investment and Infrastructure Summit 2025, in which India’s topmost industrialists like Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani pledged Rs 50,000 crore worth of investment each, is also a showcase of PM Narendra Modi’s vision.
