Trump’s inspiring address: Letters to the Editor — Feb. 26, 2026
The Issue: President Trump’s record-long State of the Union Address and Democrats’ reactions.
The greatest accomplishment of President Trump’s first year of his second term is this: He has exposed all the corruption and rot within the Democratic Party (“Commander’s winning speech,” Feb. 25).
Their vile, unhinged, rude and very unpatriotic behavior was on full display during the State of the Union Address.

Once again, The Post applauds the egomaniacal shoutings of our president.
Trump’s role is to represent, present and regard the rights and interests of all Americans no matter their individual political views and aspirations.
But by all appearances, he glorifies differences and consistently promotes divisiveness.
We need the presence and encouragement of an inspirational leader who isn’t continuously ridiculing and insulting others, but is always open to adjusting his opinions and actions when it’s appropriate.
That is the personality and action of a leader, and certainly not who Trump is, which is truly frightening.
Despite theatrics displayed by disgruntled Democrats, Trump held his ground in his State of the Union address.
Our military was well represented, and it was amazing to see 100-year-old retired Navy Capt. E. Joyce Williams receive the Congressional Medal of Honor.
I hope the Iranians were tuned in.
Did anyone expect any surprises in Trump’s State of the Union speech?
In characteristically Trump-style, he took credit for everything “good” that’s happening and laid blame on the Democrats for everything “bad.”
It was what anyone would expect from a Trump speech.
Republicans howled with praise; Democrats sat on their hands looking like they had just eaten a rotting pickle.
Unless Dems pull a lot of rabbits out of their hats come the midterms, they’re going to have to acquire a taste for rotting pickles.
Don’t you just love politics?
Santa Clarita, Calif.
Trump’s speech was one for the ages and for all Americans.
In covering all the important things he has done for the last year, there is no doubt that we are entering a golden age for all Americans.
He also chastised the Dems so much that they were hanging their heads in shame by the end of his speech.
Maybe now they will support him in making America great again.
A moment that will be remembered forever was when Trump challenged the entire chamber to stand if they agreed that the “first duty of the American government is to protect American citizens, not illegal aliens.”
The contrast could not have been made more clear.
The Republican side of the chamber immediately sprung to their feet and raucously applauded.
The Democrat side didn’t budge an inch.
This moment will prove to be pure gold at the ballot box this fall.
How can any US citizen be proud to be a Democrat, much less vote for one?
The president delivered a vigorously inspiring State of the Union Address.
He meticulously articulated his year one accomplishments and his vision for a fiscally sound economy while touting his mantra, “peace through strength.”
Unfortunately, Democrats were scowling for the most part, and shouting undignified taunts at the president.
When they refused to stand for prioritizing Americans and not illegals, it encapsulated their shameful overall un-American stance.
The president delivered a great State of the Union speech, making his case for so many accomplishments.
But as James Carville accurately declared decades ago, “It’s the economy, stupid.”
Without a doubt, the most important issue to voters is affordability.
With the midterm elections right around the corner, Trump must find a way to bring prices lower than he has done already.
Everything else pales in comparison.
