Nine Suspects Killed In Multiple Police Encounters Across Punjab; Two Officers Injured In Raids
Nine suspects were killed, and two police officials were injured in a series of separate alleged encounters with the Crime Control Department (CCD) across Punjab on Tuesday, according to police statements. Investigations are underway in all cases.
In Lahore, six suspects were killed in multiple incidents. Police claimed that during a raid in the Sundar area, armed suspects opened fire on CCD personnel, injuring two constables. The police returned fire, killing two men identified as Alam Sher and Hashim, who were allegedly wanted in over 60 cases.
In another incident in Iqbal Town, two suspects in custody, Bilal alias Mota and Danish, were later found dead. Police said their accomplices attacked the CCD team during a recovery operation, and the detainees were killed in the crossfire.
In a separate incident in DHA, police reported that two motorcyclists opened fire on a CCD checkpoint. Officers returned fire, killing two suspects while a third escaped.
In Sahiwal’s Pakpattan area, two suspects allegedly escaped police custody before opening fire on a CCD team near a rural road. After a 30-minute exchange of fire, police said both were found dead. Two accomplices reportedly fled. Weapons were recovered from the scene.
In Faisalabad, an alleged drug dealer was killed near Chohala Mor during what police described as an exchange of fire following a raid on suspected criminals. The deceased was also wanted in multiple cases, according to police sources.
In Bahawalpur, police said an alleged dacoit was arrested in an injured condition after a raid near Ahmedpur East. His accomplices allegedly opened fire on the police before fleeing. A weapon was recovered from the suspect.
All bodies have been sent for post-mortem examinations, and separate cases have been registered. Further investigations are ongoing.
