Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Islamabad on Tuesday for high-level talks with Pakistan’s leadership, as Islamabad’s role in mediating recent United States–Iran negotiations in Switzerland placed the region’s diplomacy in sharp focus.

The visit comes just days after Pakistan and Qatar facilitated a round of US–Iran talks in Buergenstock, Switzerland, which reportedly produced a 60-day roadmap towards a potential final agreement on ending hostilities and stabilising key regional flashpoints, including Lebanon and the Strait of Hormuz.
