Pierre Poilievre channels his inner JD Vance
He just can’t help himself. As the federal budget approaches and Canada’s relationship with the United States continues to hang by an increasingly tenuous thread, Pierre Poilievre apparently decided that it would be a good use of his time as official opposition leader to re-litigate one of his oldest (and dumbest) arguments: that Nazism was, in fact, socialism.
Never mind that actual historians of the Nazi regime and totalitarianism have repeatedly explained the many differences between Adolf Hitler’s politically-motivated appropriation of the socialist brand and its actual application. For Poilievre, this is apparently an argument he wants to re-litigate — and lose, if we’re going to judge it on the basis of things like facts — over and over again.
“Nazi Socialism, Soviet Socialism, Narco Socialism and all other forms of socialism move at different speeds but always to the same destination — impoverished hell for the many and special powers & wealth for the few,” he wrote on social media last week, building on his wife’s own anti-socialist........© National Observer
