Kurdish leaders in Cizre express hope for peace process following Öcalan’s call
On Feburary 27th, imprisoned Kurdish Workers Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Öcalan issued a historic call for the group to lay down its arms and disband following months of talks and over 40 years of sporadic conflict with Turkish forces. Medyascope spoke with Kurdish leaders in Turkey’s southeastern city of Cizre regarding their expectations for peace in the region.
Former Şırnak Bar President Rojhat Dilsiz, former Şırnak Mayor Abdullah Güngen, current Şırnak Bar President Abdullah Fındık, and local teacher Ayhan Haykır joined Medyascope in Cizre to discuss the developments.
