My Home Bargains haul proves why it's one of the cheapest places to shop right now

There are two places I go when I 'need to pick up some bits' and that's either Home Bargains or B&M.

When I say 'bits', it's usually a lot of them. From cleaning and laundry products, to toiletries and snacks, it's rare that a basket is big enough for my inevitable haul. And it's a longstanding joke that nobody quite knows what they'll end up coming home with from the budget stores.

While B&M is undoubtedly popular - and with good reason - Home Bargains' sales are through the roof right now.

Owner TJ Morris' recently filed accounts with Companies House show its turnover increased from £3.76bn to £4.20bn in the 12 months to June 2024. Its pre-tax profit also surged from £336.5m to £454.8m over the same period.

The company, which took over Quality Save stores in 2023, is reportedly putting it down to opening new shops, relocating some existing sites and higher sales.

But ultimately it comes down to prices........
