The One-Man Show: How Power Plays Shape Kashmir’s Workplaces

For most adults, work is the single largest part of life. It structures our days, shapes our relationships, and often becomes central to our identity.
A person’s profession can feel like his anchor to purpose and respect in Kashmir, where jobs are limited and competition intense.
Ask someone, “Who are you?” and they answer with a title: engineer, doctor, or principal.
For those in positions of power, their identity often collapses entirely into the role they occupy.
Work should be a place of growth, creativity, and meaning. It should allow people to bring their skills, ideas, and personality into the workplace. But sadly, too many organizations turn work into a performance stage for a single ego.
When fairness is absent, opportunity is hoarded, and flattery is rewarded over merit, work becomes punishment.
