School Officials Find an Unexpected Benefit From Cellphone Bans

Nearing the end of the school year, Dallas school district officials are saying the district’s cellphone ban has given an unexpected boost to book checkouts at the library.
One school in Hillcrest, Texas, has seen a significant increase in library usage and book checkouts. According to a report from CBS, from the first day of school through the end of March, the district saw an increase of over 200,000 books checked out compared to previous years.
“I started hearing, ‘Oh, I’m so bored. I can’t get on my phone after I do my work or during lunchtime,'”........
