Meta Just Began Laying Off 8,000 Workers Worldwide to Make Room for AI

The social media giant will also shift 7,000 staffers into new AI-focused roles and eliminate 6,000 open positions.

Thousands of tech workers will soon be out of a job. Earlier today, Meta started to lay off its employees in a restructuring effort to reduce its headcount by 10 percent. The company confirmed that artificial intelligence was a driving factor in its decision.
