This Kitchenware Entrepreneur Says Trump Copper Tariffs Brought ‘Absolute Mayhem’
Copper is widely used in many goods, and the new 50 percent tariff will impact prices on more merchandise more than you might realize.

President Trump’s decision to slap a 50 percent tariff on copper imports isn’t just riling up industries like construction or electronics that rely on the critical metal. It’s also jolting businesses like Beth Ann Luke’s, who runs Coppermill Kitchen, an antique cookware business that sells copper pots, pans, and other copper appliances.
“I’ve made it 15 years and I can’t believe I’m staring at the end from a tariff,” Luke, 45, says. “It is so astronomically high, there is no solution. That tariff will eat away at any ounce of profit.”
Luke first started her Shelton, Connecticut-based business in 2010 as a young mom, when her husband was terminally ill with cystic fibrosis. As his medical costs cllimbed, her prior career as a wedding designer wasn’t cutting it,........
