We’re (mostly) past the era where random emails purporting to be from a Nigerian prince in need of financial help successfully con recipients out of their money. Today, most people are aware of the ongoing, more sophisticated risk of being phished—a hack attack where bad actors pretend to be, for example, an official entity like your bank and then steal data like login credentials or credit card numbers. But a new report says that we’re entering a dangerous new era of phishing, where the lures are more convincing than ever. Thank AI for the technological leaps that make this new level of fraud possible.
