Adam Sandler paid tribute to his former on-screen son, the late Cameron Boyce, in his new movie Happy Gilmore 2, six years after the former child star’s death.

After the comedy sequel released on Netflix on Friday, eagle-eyed fans noticed that Cameron, who starred as Adam’s son in Grown Ups, appeared on a TV screen in the background of one scene.

The footage playing on the TV during the scene was seemingly from an episode of the Disney Channel series Jessie, which Cameron starred in between 2011 and 2015.

Cameron died in his sleep at age 20 in 2019, according to a statement from his family. An autopsy later revealed that the young actor had died as a result of an
