Michael Stipe, frontman of the legendary alt-rock band REM, finally clarified some of the lyrics to a song that’s baffled fans for years.

The track in question is the manically-paced It’s The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine), released in 1987 on the group’s Document album.

Since the band didn’t print lyrics on the album sleeve, the words to the song have been up for debate for years.

And that’s what caught Michael’s eye on Bluesky as he shared a Simpsons meme in which Homer was seen bragging: “I can sing all the lyrics to It’s The End Of The World by REM”
