Strictly's Janette Manrara Admits Uncertainty About It Takes Two Future After 'Axe' Headlines

The former Strictly Come Dancing professional has hosted It Takes Two since 2021.

Janette Manrara has revealed she’s not sure what the future holds for her at Strictly Come Dancing amid rumours about the upcoming season.

In the last month, numerous long-serving professional dancers have confirmed they won’t be returning to Strictly in 2026, with headlines also claiming that Janette and her co-presenter Fleur East had been “axed” as the hosts of companion show It Takes Two.

While the BBC was quick to insist that it was “factually incorrect” to say the pair had been “axed”, Janette has admitted to Radio Times she’s still not actually sure whether she’ll be back on our screens this autumn.

“I don’t know, we’ll have to wait and find out,” she said. “I think everyone at the moment is on standby, so we’ll see what happens.”

“That’s showbiz!” she added, cryptically.

So far, Karen Hauer, Luba Mushtuk, Michelle Tsiakkas and Nadiya Bychkova have all said that they will not be returning as pros in the Strictly ballroom this year, while unconfirmed rumours have also suggested that Gorka Márquez has parted ways with the show.

Gorka did not have a celebrity partner in 2025 due to his commitments as a judge on the Spanish version of the show, Bailando Con Las Estrellas, which runs at the same time as Strictly.

Meanwhile, Strictly bosses are still searching for two new hosts, following the departures of Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman at the end of last year’s run.

New presenters are yet to be announced, with rumours in the tabloid press indicating that current frontrunners include everyone from Bradley Walsh and Alex Jones to Angela Scanlon, Zoe Ball, Rylan Clark and Strictly fave Johannes Radebe.

Alan Carr and Amanda Holden have both ruled themselves out of the gig for different reasons, while Alison Hammond has revealed that she has been in contact with the BBC about potentially taking on the job.
