Scarlett Johansson Raises Eyebrows As She Reflects On Past Defence Of Woody Allen

Scarlett Johansson has once again sparked controversy over comments in support of the director Woody Allen.
The Oscar nominee has starred in three movies directed by Allen, who has kept something of a low profile in Hollywood since the beginning of the Me Too movement in 2017.
Allen was previously accused of sexual abuse by his daughter, Dylan, but has always refuted these allegations.
Separately, his relationship with now wife Soon-Yi Previn, the adopted daughter of his ex-partner Mia Farrow, has also raised eyebrows.
During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in 2019, Johansson was asked about the Annie Hall director, insisting: “I love Woody. I believe him, and I would work with him anytime.
“I see Woody whenever I can, and I have had a lot of conversations with him about it. I have been very direct with him, and he’s very direct with me. He maintains his innocence, and I believe him.”

She noted: “It’s hard because it’s a time where people are very fired up, and understandably.
“Things needed to be stirred up, and so people have a lot of passion and a lot of strong feelings and are angry, and rightfully so. It’s an intense time.”
During a new interview with The Telegraph, Scarlett was asked about her defence of Allen, and whether it had impacted her career negatively.
“I guess it’s hard to know,” she responded. “You never know what the domino effect is, exactly.
“But my mum always encouraged me to be myself, [to see] that it’s important to have integrity, and stand up for what you believe in.
“At the same time, I think it’s also important to know when it’s not your turn. I don’t mean that you should silence yourself. I mean sometimes it’s just not your time. And that’s something I’ve understood more as I’ve........
