Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbaink paid homage to Prince with his American Smooth on the latest Strictly Come Dancing live show

Former footballer Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbaink has spoken out after losing out in this week’s dance-off.

On Saturday night, Jimmy received mixed feedback from the judges for his and partner Lauren Oakley’s Icons Week routine to Prince’s Purple Rain, although the pair did still land a respectable score of 30 points out of 40, putting them in the top half of the leaderboard.

Unfortunately, the former Chelsea player failed to secure enough votes from the public to keep him and Lauren out of the dance-off.

Even more shockingly, they were in the bottom two with Amber Davies and Nikita Kuzmin, whose Cha Cha Cha routine earned them 33 points, putting them in joint second place on the night.

When both couples danced again during Sunday night’s pre-recorded results show, the judges unanimously voted to save Amber, meaning Jimmy became the fourth celebrity to be eliminated.
