If Jodie Foster had her way, her career might have unfolded very differently from the path we’ve associated with her.

The Oscar winner has spent six decades in front of the camera in one form or another – a trajectory she says wasn’t her choice.

“I would never have chosen to be an actor. I don’t have the personality of an actor,” Jodie said, in an article published by Variety on Sunday during an appearance at the Marrakech Film Festival. “I’m not somebody that wants to dance on a table and, you know, sing songs for people.”

Jodie went on to describe how she approaches selecting roles – and offered a candid look at what it feels like to work in Hollywood.
