UK snacks in petrol station

I’ll be honest; even though Ireland is pretty close to my new UK home, I’ve been pretty surprised by some of the inclusions I’ve seen in English supermarkets’ Irish sections.

Sure, there are Mikados, TK red lemonade, and (thank God) Cadbury Dairy Milk Tiffin. But there are also brands I’ve never heard of, strange mint chocolate sweets I never saw on shelves back home, and very obscure Irish .

So, I’ll admit I felt vindicated by a recent Reddit post shared to . In it, site user u/Thewickedworm told members: “Wife got me a snackbox subscription – monthly snacks from around the world. This month is the UK.”

The culinary carnage beneath the text showed a Bounty cookie, rhubarb and custard-flavoured boiled sweets (???!), pickled onion-flavoured crisps (but no, not Monster Munch; that’d be too normal), and other atrocities.

Here are some of the best responses to the poster’s ill-fated question: “How did they do?”
