The marketing for The Devil Wears Prada 2 might have made it seem like a clumsy lunge at millennials – Diet Coke! Starbucks! Nostalgia! – but according to critics, looks can be just as deceptive as that seemingly unassuming cerulean sweater.
In a coup for a film sequel, all of the central cast are back in place for The Devil Wears Prada 2, with Meryl Streep back as the iconic Miranda Priestly alongside Anne Hathaway, Stanley Tucci and Emily Blunt.
Rarer still, it seems like they’ve pulled off creating a sequel that delivers on nostalgia while offering an updated take on the original material instead of a straight up re-hash.
Although the praise isn’t entirely unanimous, the majority of critics have praised The Devil Wears Prada 2 for casting a side eye over the concerning direction of journalism in the modern age.
