When floods come, Houston rallies. But when elections come, we vanish

If the fate of the world relied on voting, there would still be people lost in distraction — scrolling through TikTok, laughing at memes and oblivious that the ground beneath their feet was crumbling.
Voting? That would never make their to-do list.
After yesterday's election, I'm more certain than ever that too many Houstonians have tuned out. We've traded civic duty for social-media rants, and the sense of community that bonded us feels like a relic.
