In Houston’s ever-shifting barbecue landscape, few stories illustrate grit and perseverance better than that of Jamie and Karen Fain, the husband-and-wife team behind Fainmous BBQ. Their journey over the past decade has been defined by resilience – first through floods, then the pandemic, and now, most recently, the challenge of nearby construction outside their Sawyer Yards location.

When the Fains relocated from Westbury to Sawyer Yards in late 2019, it was meant to be a fresh start for their restaurant specializing in East Tennessee-style barbecue. A gleaming new space, complete with a hand-painted mural of the Smoky........
