Gov. Greg Abbott promised this week to end democracy in Texas, one way or another.
Texas’ Republican leader, surely considering his own presidential aspirations, is intent on rigging the 2026 elections to maintain GOP control of Congress. On Sunday, he threatened to remove 51 Democratic lawmakers from the Texas Legislature and appoint Republicans in their place if they block his plans.
Abbott, who swore to uphold the Texas and U.S. constitutions, is promising to overturn 51 elections. He will stop at nothing to impose new congressional districts designed to deny millions of Texans representation in Washington D.C.

The governor placed redistricting on the special legislative session's agenda at President Donald Trump’s command. The White House knows Republicans will likely lose control of the House of Representatives if the United States holds free and fair elections next year.
