Untapped potential: Scottish universities need to do more with IP
Scotland is fortunate to have an abundance of world class higher education facilities within a relatively small geographic space. They innovate from almost every facet of their research and as patent attorneys we are privileged to receive advance notice of an array of world changing technologies. While Scotland’s research landscape is world class, a recent European Patent Office report found that 45% of all UK university derived European patent applications came from just four UK universities – Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College and University College London.
