World Heart Day is not merely an annual observance; it is a critical call to mobilize resources, raise public awareness, and empower every individual to prioritize cardiovascular wellness. In the Kashmir Valley, the cardiovascular crisis takes on unique dimensions shaped by environmental conditions, seasonal extremes, and cultural habits. High-altitude living and prolonged, severe winter seasons create distinct physiological stressors on the human heart. Cold weather naturally causes peripheral blood vessels to constrict, elevating systemic blood pressure and forcing the heart to work significantly harder to maintain circulation.
