Q: I am 72 years old and feel tired most of the time.
A: Feeling tired is common, but persistent fatigue should not simply be blamed on age. Anaemia, thyroid problems, diabetes, heart disease, poor sleep, depression, vitamin deficiencies, or medication side effects can all cause weakness. If it persists, get yourself evaluated.
Q: My father is 81 and has started forgetting small things. Should we worry about dementia?A: Occasional forgetfulness can occur with normal ageing, but repeatedly forgetting recent events, getting lost, missing medicines, struggling with familiar tasks, or showing changes in behaviour needs medical evaluation. Early assessment can identify treatable causes and help plan care.
Q: I am 78 and wake up several times at night to pass urine.A: Getting up once may be common, but frequent nighttime urination can be related to prostate problems, diabetes, urinary infection, bladder issues, heart problems, excess evening fluids, or certain medicines. Do not simply accept it as a part of ageing.
Q: My mother is 79 and has little appetite. She says she is not hungry. What should we do?A: Poor appetite is common in older adults but should not be ignored. Offer small, frequent, nutritious meals rather than large portions. Check for dental problems, constipation, medicines, depression, swallowing difficulties and underlying illness if poor appetite persists.
Q: I am 76 and feel dizzy when I stand up from the bed or chair. Why?A: A........
