The treasure beyond measure
We live in a world obsessed with numbers. We count our success in terms of salaries, promotions, designations, and bank balance. We measure our worth by job titles and applause. A six-digit income excites us. A delay unsettles us. A prestigious position reassures us. But pause for a moment and let’s ask ourselves — is this What we call Rizq?
The Arabic word Razaqa means to provide, to sustain, to gift continuously with care. it is a deliberate, loving provision from Allah. It includes everything beneficial He grants —material or spiritual, visible or hidden. Rizq is not only what enters our wallet. Rizq is what enters our heart.
Real Rizq is Good health — waking up without pain, breathing without machines, walking without support. There are people with fortunes who would surrender everything for one healthy morning.
Real Rizq is loving relationships — a mother whispering our name in tahajjud, a father carrying silent burdens so we can chase dreams, a spouse who stays when life grows heavy, a friend who listens without judgment. No government job or business can manufacture sincerity. No salary can purchase loyalty.
A good life is not necessarily luxurious. It is peaceful. Meaningful. Content. The Prophet said:
“Wealth is not abundance of possessions, but richness of the soul.”
How many have everything — except peace? And how many have little — yet sleep with hearts at rest?
Real Rizq is piety — being blessed with the strength to refuse what is forbidden even when it seems profitable . Real rizq is closeness to Allah — when sujood feels like relief, when dhikr steadies our racing heart, when dua feels like oxygen to a suffocating soul ; when missing a prayer feels more painful than losing a treasure.
Ease in obedience is rizq — when charity feels sweeter than shopping ;when forgiveness feels sweeter than revenge.
Empathy and compassion is the beautiful form of Rizq; to be a smile in someone’s storm, to be calm in their chaos, to be light in their darkness.
As Mulana Rumi said: “What comes from the heart will surely settle in the heart.”
And famous Persian Poet Sa‘di wrote: “The children of Adam are limbs of one body; that in creation are made of one essence. When life and time hurts a limb, other limbs cannot be at ease. If you have no sympathy for human pain; title of human you cannot claim..”
When we heal another heart, we are wealthy beyond measure.
Taqwa and tawakal Brings Rizq from the Unseen. Allah Says in the Quran;
“……..And whoever fears Allah – He will make for him a way out. And He will provide for him from where he does not expect. And whoever relies on Allah then he is sufficient for him……. (Surah At-Talaq :2-3)
Prophet Muhammad(PBUH) said that “If you were to rely upon Allah with true reliance, He would provide for you as He provides for the birds. They go out hungry in the morning and return full in the evening.”(Tirmidhi 2344)
Istighfar removes the blockages and brings abundance. Allah says in the Quran:
“Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever Forgiving. He will send rain upon you in abundance and increase you in wealth and children.”
Gratitude multiplies blessings and it is the best way to enhance rizq. Allah says;
“If you are grateful, I will certainly give you more. But if you are ungrateful my punishment is severe” (Surah Ibrahim Verse No. 7)
Charity enriches wealth rather than decreasing it . Allah says in the Quran:
“The example of those who spend their wealth in the cause of Allah is that of a grain that sprouts into seven ears , each bearing one hundred grains.”
Maintaining good relationships with family , friends, and others is the key to barakah. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad( PBUH) said;
“Whoever would like his provision to be increased and his life to be extended, let him maintain the ties of kinship.” (Sahih al-Bukhari 5986, Sahih Muslim 2557).
Islam honors effort and responsibility. work hard. Earn halal income. Strive with excellence. But do not reduce rizq to a salary slip. Real rizq lies in healthy body peaceful heart; righteous spouse; obedient children; caring friends. The ability to pray with focus, the sweetness of dhikr in heart, tears of forgiveness.
Real poverty is not an empty wallet — it is an empty heart. True wealth is not in heavy account — it is in heart full of Compassion and gratitude. Sometimes Allah reduces our dunya to increase our akhirah. Sometimes He delays wealth to protect our soul. Sometimes He gives us less of the world to give us more of Himself. So ask Allah not only for increase in income, but for barakah and increase in faith. Ask for health. For righteous company. For contentment. For taqwa. For nearness. For ease in obedience. Ask Him to make us rizq for others — a source of mercy, comfort, and hope.
May Allah expand our rizq in ways that draw us closer to Him, grant us provision that strengthens our faith, and make us wealthy in the only currency that survives death.
