Burmese pythons, an invasive apex predator introduced to Florida in the 1970s, devastated native wildlife (e.g., 87–99% declines in bobcats, deer, raccoons, etc.) in the Everglades and Big Cypress Swamp, but their population is now being significantly reduced.

Florida’s native wildlife has adapted, turning the tables: alligators ambush adults, panthers and coyotes kill them, otters, raccoons, indigo snakes, and vultures raid nests and eat eggs, slashing juvenile survival rates (possibly to ~15%).

The article argues this success shows nature’s resilience to invasive species and climate change, contrasting it with what it calls alarmist narratives, and criticizes renewable energy infrastructure for causing more habitat loss than the pythons themselves.

“Scientific studies,” activist fundraising pitches and “news” stories about apocalyptic threats to Earth’s wildlife are as ubiquitous as trees in the Pacific Northwest.

Overexploitation and habitat alteration had been the gravest causes of the existential crisis facing Earth’s wild animal species. But now, they assert, “intensifying climate change” has become a third major factor. (See here, here and here.)

Alarmists even claim climate change affects bird migration and reproduction by disrupting their biological rhythms and schedules. They never mention that wind turbines slaughter thousands of migratory birds, ensuring that they never reach their destination and never reproduce. 

Another cause, rarely mentioned, is invasive species – such as brown tree snakes accidentally brought to Guam during WWII. With no natural predators to keep them in check, they wiped out ten of the island’s twelve native bird species.

It’s an endless cycle. Garbage science and theories in = garbage pseudo-scientific fearmongering out = garbage policies imposed = reduced habitats, wildlife, energy, jobs, living standards, heating, air conditioning and lives.

One has to wonder: What would happen if funding dried up for all this nonsense of insert “climate change” and out comes research funding? Might we get more honest, replicable science – and less garbage? Almost certainly.
