The 38th Bosphorus Cross-Continental Swimming Race on August 23, 2026, drew approximately 2,500 swimmers from 64 countries for the 6.5 km Asia-to-Europe course organized by the Turkish Olympic Committee.

Selim Oğuz won the men’s race in 51:13 and Su İnal claimed her second consecutive women’s title in 54:54; both athletes are targeting qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.

Safety measures were significantly strengthened after a 2025 fatality, including mandatory safety buoys, over 100 escort vessels, and strict participant limits and qualifying requirements.

On Sunday, August 23, 2026, the Bosphorus Strait once again set the stage for sports, endurance, and a unique geography bridging two continents. Organized by the Turkish Olympic Committee (TOC), the 38th Bosphorus Cross-Continental Swimming Race hosted approximately 2,500 swimmers from 64 countries.

First held in 1989 with just 68 participants, the event has grown into one of the world’s most renowned open-water swimming competitions.
