Rising Heat in India

Extreme weather, particularly excessive heat in India, intensifies occupational health risks and reduces the work capacity of accredited social health activists, front-line women community health workers. The absence of legal protections against heat exposure makes their work increasingly precarious. Rising temperatures and humidity underscore the need for research, adaptive measures, supportive policies, and the recognition of ASHAs as outdoor healthcare workers.
