Adam Talaga, 34, was almost twice over the limit when his Mazda 5 veered off the road and ploughed into a tree on the B1107 Brandon Road near Thetford Golf Club.

Norwich Magistrates’ Court was told a female passenger had suffered serious injuries including a broken leg in the crash on March 30.

Despite such major injuries, witnesses saw the occupants of the car - which included a child under seven years old - clambering out of the wreckage and fleeing before police arrived at the scene of the crash.........
