Colin Waterfield, 79, was sentenced in 2017 having being found guilty of multiple rapes and sex assaults on children - the youngest of whom was just four years old - and a woman.

His death on March 18, at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital while a prisoner at HMP Bure, is being examined by the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman, the statutory body that launches an independent investigation whenever anyone dies in custody.
