Coastguard received an Emergency Locator Transmitter alert at 12.34pm today that an aircraft was in trouble and needed help off Hemsby.

Lifeboats from Hemsby, Caister and Great Yarmouth and Gorleston stations were sent out along with a Coastguard fixed-wing aircraft and helicopter to conduct a search of the area.

However the search was called off after no evidence was found of a plane crashing.
