North Norfolk District Council (NNDC) closed a stretch of the walkway at Sheringham nearly a month ago after the void was first discovered.

A series of investigations found it was large enough to "accommodate a Transit van" and was caused by water undermining the structure.

Council officials have now confirmed that preparatory works at the site are due to be completed by the end of the week - depending on tides - with further remedial action to follow.
