Man loses annex battle after calling in government officials

Neil Peek had hoped to add a two-bedroom annex to a home off Bungay Road in Barsham, Beccles, to provide facilities for live-in care and accessibility.

The plans were submitted to East Suffolk Council in February and showed the building attached to an existing swimming pool extension.

But the council did not make a decision on the proposal by the determination date in April.

A planning officer did notify the applicant's agent two weeks later at the beginning of May, apologising for the delay and said that they would be recommending refusal of the application.
