Global company's proposal for 124-acre solar farm takes leap forward

Opdenergy, a renewable energy company based in Madrid, had revealed plans for the development near Beccles earlier this year and held a public consultation about the bid.

The proposal would see more than 120 acres of arable land at Hall Farm, south of School Road in Ringsfield Corner, and feature around 75,000 PV solar panels.

And now the company's UK group division, OPDE UK, has submitted a full planning application to East Suffolk Council.

In the documents it said the development would be able to generate electricity equivalent to the annual consumption of approximately 11,500 homes over the space of a year.
