She moved into the property in the Suffolk town at the age of 22 with her husband William and her six-week-old daughter, Janice.

And now at the age of 94, Mrs Preston has finally handed back her keys after 72 years of being a council tenant.

She handed them back with proud family members watching on.

Dawn Bedwell, one of her daughters, said: “We wanted to mark the day in a special way and recreate the first day of her council tenancy.”
