Council leader shares vision to battle traffic concerns in town's high street

Kay Mason Billig, leader of Norfolk County Council, has said that "something must be done" to help with traffic going through Loddon and Chedgrave.

The roads have come under pressure as hundreds of new homes have been built in recent years, increasing traffic flow through the rapidly-growing town.

Mrs Mason Billig said: "With parked cars and moving traffic being squeezed into quite narrow roadways, combined with pavements of varying widths you get a perfect storm.

"Sometimes it’s two double-decker buses trying to pass each other, with pedestrians on the footpath, cyclists, delivery lorries, all trying to squeeze past parked cars.

"There just isn’t the space, and safety is becoming a concern."
