17th century chapel deemed 'rare survivor' undergoes £400k repair project
The grade-II listed Walpole Old Chapel, near Halesworth, is one of the oldest Nonconformist chapels in the country.
But the building was at risk due to large cracks in the exterior allowing water to seep into the timber frame and needed vital repairs to save it.
And after 10 years in the making, it is now in the first £400,000 phase of the chapel's biggest repair project yet.
