'Toxic' fumes and sleepless nights as giant generator set up in quiet village

UK Power Network set up the large generator on the pavement near the substation in Pinewood Gardens, North Cove, on May 31 after reports of an electric fault affecting around 3,000 customers.

But those living nearby in the Suffolk village have complained of feeling unwell with headaches and nausea due to the diesel fumes "churning out" of the generator "24/7" for the last 10 days.

Marion Didsbury, whose home is the closest to the lorry, said she has not been able to spend time in her garden or open her windows because of it.

She said: “It has been awful, the generator has been churning out these fumes.”

"I can't go out to the garden as it makes me nauseous."
