Sentence for corrupt prison officer should serve as "stark warning"
Sophie Emms, 29, had worked at Wayland Prison for more than two years by the time she agreed to bring in spice and cannabis for her boyfriend, Jediah Clarke, to sell to fellow prisoners.
Spice is a a synthetic drug which mimics the effect of cannabis.
Jediah Clarke (Image: ERSOU) Norwich Crown Court heard the 42-year-old, described as the “commander in chief” of the operation, persuaded her to get involved after the pair started a relationship.
Clarke’s mother, Joy Wickham, 61, was also part of the smuggling ring, tasked with passing the drugs to Emms to get them into the prison where they were stored in the cell of another inmate.
Clarke and Wickham, both of London, were jailed for six years, two months and four years respectively having both been found guilty of bringing or conveying a prohibited article, namely spice and cannabis, into prison following a 19-day trial last........
