The woman suffered a double fracture to her nose after she was violently beaten by Arron Rampling, 40, at the Maids Head in Norwich.

Norwich Crown Court (Image: Peter Walsh, Newsquest) Lucia Coerman, prosecuting, said Rampling, who had been “drinking excessively”, made “derogatory remarks” to his partner while out saying she needed to see a therapist.

After returning to the hotel at about 9.30pm, Rampling was so drunk he “struggled to get up the stairs” but began a “violent attack” on the woman when back in the room.
