North Walsham Town Council faced a barrage of difficult questions at a meeting on Monday, December 9, after it emerged that money is unaccounted for, rules have been breached and members and staff are locked in numerous internal disputes.

The revelations have angered many in the community, who want answers as to why these failings have happened. Three councillors have also quit because of the turmoil.

A police officer was brought in by the council to oversee the meeting, fearing it could get out of hand.

But while there were strong words exchanged, it finished without any incidents.

It follows a report by a forensic auditor, Dot The Numbers, which found dozens of flaws at the authority.
