Parish councillor's menagerie of animals seized by police in raid on home

About eight police vans and other vehicles descended upon a Roughton cul-de-sac this week, where officers stormed the home of Richard Seaward, vice chairman of the village council.

Officials from North Norfolk District Council and police officers took several hours to remove the creatures.

In total, 14 dogs of varying breeds and ages were taken away to an unknown location, along with a gaggle of geese and a flock of chickens.

The dogs are of a variety of different breeds and mixes, including husky, Jack Russell, springer spaniels and German Shepherds.

It is understood the raid was triggered following complaints about the welfare of the animals.

The menagerie belonged to Mr Seaward and his family, who believe the incident is a "neighbour dispute that has got out of hand".

He has had his phone seized and has been given no information as to the condition of his animals, which he says are "like family," adding in his view, they are "all healthy and very loved".
