Urgent £1m appeal launched to maintain 'Heroes retreat'

Founded by the former secretary of state for war on August 7, 1919 the centre - fondly known as Kitchener's - provides seafront holiday accommodation for veterans of the armed, merchant and emergency services.

But with the charity "facing a crisis" it has launched an appeal to try to secure its future.

With a call to "Support Kitchener’s" a 'One in a Million' campaign was unveiled during Armed Forces Week this week.

It is aiming to raise £1m........
