Police had responded to reports of a melee involving a large number of teenagers and youths in the Upper Esplanade and Kirkley Cliff Road areas of south Lowestoft on Saturday night.

It happened around 40 minutes after the main entertainment had finished on the opening day of the First Light Festival.

In the aftermath of the police response, as officers rushed to the scene to break up the brawl, a teenager suffered serious facial injuries.
